My Prize Arrives

I waited with baited breath for the arrival of my sketch books, here they are, ready and waiting for me to fill with works of art...

My prize!
I have also been working every hour under the sun this week (every time Freya is asleep) to get my Shape module finished.  So here are a couple of pages more of my portfolio:
More designs
And more
I think Pete feels he has not seen me all week, and I certainly feel I have been hiding in our study, working away. (And blogging!)  I have nearly completed the 'Outcomes' document that needs to be completed for each module, this is something that generally takes a couple of hours, so I am glad to have done the majority of it.  I still seem to have lots of loose ends to finish off, so it will be another week of hard work I think but well worth it to get it finished and sent off in time for our holiday.

Jackpot!!

I have some very exciting news to report...

I have won first prize in the Royal Competition with the School of Stitched Textiles!  I am so over the moon and I have won a 'stack' of Pink Pig Sketch books, which are various colours including pink (obviously) which will be perfect for my Colour Module.

It would be fair to say that there weren't many entries for the competition, but even still the ones that were there were impressive, so I am thrilled to have won first place.  I feel that all the hard work I put into my wedding quilt has paid off and I now also have more confidence going forward with my course.

Watch this space for a picture of my prize!

Royal Wedding Wall Hanging

Seeing as I had so much Union Jack bunting to spare I decided to make a quilt to commemorate the big day, and after quite a lot of pulling my hair out at various stages due to minor technicalities (running out of thread, my machine messing about, etc. etc. ) I have finally come up with this...
The Wall hanging

Close up - love birds kissing!

You can't see it (due to poor photo) but it has 'William and Kate' embroidered across the middle
Close Up.  It's real bunting sewn in.

It has taken me just over a week, and I have also made a table runner, but it was such a quick job it's not worth taking a picture of.  So I hope it is going to be a good day, all we need now is sunshine!!

That is enough diversion for me, now it's time to plough on with my coursework, with renewed vigour.  I'm doing lots of designing and written work at the moment but I have to complete 2 foundation pieced samples, so photos of that will be coming soon (ish).

Royal Wedding Bunting

At last my Union Jack fabric has arrived and I intend to use every last scrap of it.  Here is a picture of some bunting that I made, in fact I have made three sets, but here is just one...

I am also in the process of making a Royal Wedding wall hanging - it was an idea I had that turned into quite a big project!  I started it on Sunday and it is nearly done, but I think I have worked myself too hard this week and given myself an almighty headache so I am having the night off and vegging in front of the telly and getting an early night!  Progress is good though and I hope to post a photo of the final thing really soon.
