Fresh Sewing Day

So it's the 1st of November and Fresh Sewing Day over at Lily's Quilts
Lily's Quilts
But I have to say I am feeling pleased with myself  because I think I have got my biggest collage of finishes to date.

Main: Vintage India baby quilt; Top Right and down: Cross Stitch card for baby Amelia; Applique towel for Zane; 'In a Spin' pinwheel blanket for dolly; Applique towel for Indy; Pirate blanket for Patch the dog; shadow quilting sample using Picasa Logo; trupunto sample using Twitter Logo;  English quilting based on the Newsvine logo; Suffolk puffs using the Facebook Logo.

The samples using the logos are for my City and Guilds coursework, sampling different quilting techniques.  And the Vintage India quilt and the mini quilts are for Quilt Candy...which is my brand new website www.quiltcandy.co.uk

I would love it if you would take a look, and to celebrate I am having a giveway, closing at 12.00pm tomorrow!  Click here to read the post and enter...there's a quilting book of your choice to  be won!

If you are new to my blog then thank you so much for stopping by.  It's lovely to meet you.  Leave me a comment and I will be sure to check out your blog too :-)

Happy November and only 4 weeks till the C word, I best start preparations soon!

Belated Fresh Sewing Day

I am several days late to link up with Lily's Quilts;

Lily's Quilts

I have been away in the UK for the weekend, and since our return I have been faced with mountains and mountains of washing.  So I took the bull by the horns and dealt with it, rather than blogging, which is very sad and boring, and I hate that ordinary domestic tasks get in the way of my creative outlets!

But now it's (nearly) done, here I am, with my very small collage of projects from September.

From left to right: Cross stitch and ring pouch for my lovely friends Sean and Heidi; (Congratulations guys, it was lovely to see you so happy on your special day!)  Rainbow bunting for my daughter's nursery; mini pincushion for me

It looks like I haven't done much for the month of September, but in fact, I have just, tonight, had a very BIG finish, which I can't wait to share with you, as it's been many hours in the making!  It's my hand quilted cot quilt, using Trade Winds fabrics by Lily Ashbury.

Earlier this month

I can't wait to get outside and photograph this labour of love, but it could be some time coming, as it has literally rained and rained all day.  So miserable!  As soon as it dries up, I shall be out there with my camera, taking pictures at every angle, to show you the detail in all it's glory.

Back when the rain stops!

Fresh Sewing Day

Seems like yesterrday I was linking up for last month's Fresh Sewing Day...where is the time going??!

Lily's Quilts

Well it's all been happening here in Jersey this month.  We've had a visit from the Olympic Torch, Prince Charles and Camilla dropped by for their Diamond Jubilee tour and now everyone is caught up in Olympic fever.  Oh and we even had a visit from the sun, with temperatures soaring up to 30 degrees at one point.  (It didn't last long, but hey, it was good while it lasted!)

July also saw my daughter turning 3, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and my father turned 60.  A quiet month then!

I have managed to fit in a bit of sewing in between all the celebrations and festivities.  Here is a little collage of all my July makes.

Top Left, clockwise: A little Rocking Horse Cross Stitch that I was commissioned to sew for a new baby; My Ed Emberley Happy Drawing quilt finally finished; Flower Fairy Bunting for my daughter's birthday party; quilt top commissioned by my friend, stillt to be quilted but waiting on the backing.

I also had another finish this month, my secret project for the Plum and June Blog Hop.  I would just love it if you come and check out my page and project on my day, Tuesday 14th August!!!

Plum and June

So what does August have in store?  Well it's my lovely husband's birthday next week, so more celebrating, and I also have some old uni friends coming to Jersey for a long weekend, which will be great fun.  And there will be more Olympics watching.  Of course.

Sewing wise, things will be a little quieter.  I am returning in full swing to my City and Guilds coursework that I have shamefully neglected for almost 2 months now.  I am working on a little project all about the Histroy of Quilting and the history of different quilting techniques.  It's fascinating stuff and just marvellous how the traditional techniques are being revived and are so popular today.

Anyhow, I shall finish now with a picture of me with someone I interviewed back in 2005 ...

You may have seen him on the telly recently ;-)

Thanks for stopping by x

Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet

If your'e not careful, you'll blink and miss 2012, it's whizzing by!  Here we are in July already!  A special month for us, as our daughter turns 3 next week and it's also our 5th wedding anniversary on the same day :-)  Not to mention the start of the Olympics and my father's 60th birthday.

But before I look ahead to July, it's time to take stock of what I have achieved in June, as part of Lynne from Lily's Quilts

Lily's Quilts
After a wonderful holiday in France, I have managed 2 finishes this month, which are...
Walk in the Woods Cot Quilt
and...
Little Kukla Dolls Cot Quilt
I am currently working on some Flower Fairy Bunting for a very special birthday party, which I will finish and share with you soon. And  I need to quilt and bind my Ed Emberly Happy Drawing Quilt as soon as I get around to ordering more wadding.  Once 3rd birthday preparations and celebrations are out of the way, I also hope to resume my much neglected City and Guilds coursework; I have some exciting ideas in my head, I just need to put them on paper (and fabric)!
Also linking up with:
Lily's Quilts
So hello and welcome if you are new to my blog, it's lovely to meet you and I hope you enjoy looking at my work.
And I am very excited, I'm going to be hosting my very first giveaway soon...and it's a big one!
More details to follow next week.

It's That Time Again!

Well it's the beginning of a new month, and with it comes the sunshine.   Let's hope it's the start of things to come.  But before I look forward, I am going to take part in:

Lily's Quilts

Which is basically a round up of what has been achieved in the previous month.  And here's the bit where I get fancy.  I have taught myself how to make a photo mosaic :-)  So rather than rambling on about what I have made in April, you can see for yourself:

Oh and, most importantly, I completed and passed module 4 of my coursework :-)

And along with my new found photo mosaic skills, I have been learning how to use Touchdraw for the ipad to design quilts.  Once again, all thanks to Lynne from Lily's Quilts.  It's been great fun and I think it will be a really useful skill to have for the future.  But I have to say, even though I am relatively young (ish) and have been brought up with computers, I do find that technology is moving at such a fast pace, it really is a struggle to keep up!

All in all I think I have achieved quite a bit in April, now the pressure is on to get lots done in May!  First priority - finish my quilt for William - this will mean lots of midnight stitching, but it's going well, photos coming soon :-)

And now it's time to get social; I am taking part in:

Lily's Quilts

So if you are new to my blog, then it's lovely to meet you!  Please do become a follower and I look forward to following you back and getting to know you.  I have lots of exciting things pending this month and I very much look forward to sharing them.
